1,8,17 It is unknown if the what Vaul challenged was the full Void Dragon or merely a shard. 15 It is heavily, heavily implied that the Void Dragon is now sleeping on Mars, and that it may in fact be the Omnissiah. 8 Eldar myth describes Vaul as having 'becalmed' the Void Dragon. Vaul then set out into battle against the Void Dragon, however Inquisitor Horst suggests that he ultimately failed in the tast and the Void Dragon merely entered a dormant state. The Eyes enabled the fortresses to channel the energies of the warp into real space. At the core of each blackstone fortress sat on of the Eyes of the Witch, gifted to Vaul by the Crone-godess Morai-heg. He proceeded to construct the six Talismans of Vaul (Blackstone Fortresses), which harnesses and direct the power of the warp at its targets. While Vaul was not physcially powerful anymore, he was of sound mind. The War in Heaven (VII-Void Dragon) - This event supposedly happened after Khaine crippled Vaul. 16 Vaul lost and was cripple, and the sword was later given to Eldanesh who Khaine also slew.

Vaul later recast the final sword (Anaris) and used in battle against Khaine. 8 There's various slightly different sources on this, but in the end Khaine was driven mad with bloodlust and brought war against Vaul and the Eldar. 15 After destroying its necrodermis, shards of the Nightbringer's body embedded itself in Khaine, giving him the aspect of the reaper. 8 The presence of the Cegorach in the battle is supported in another Eldar tale.

The trickster god Cegorach then came and advised Khaine that the secret to defeating the Nightbringer was to attack it before it does, where it needed to solidify. 7 I'm inclined to believe that Vaul betrayed Khaine, perhaps hoping for death. 8 Another version of the story states that Vaul's 100 th sword was stolen and hidden away. One version states that Vaul did not have time to make the 100 th sword and threw in a normal one, 16 which resulted in Khaine's ring of warriors having a weak spot, which allowed the Nightbringer to strike. In both versions of the battle, something happened with one of the 100 Widow Makers. There are 2 versions of what went wrong in the battle, and 2 versions as to what triggered the final war of Khaine against the Eldar. 8 Khaine charged forth into battle against Nightbringer, 8 who may or may not have been shattered at this point in time. 7 These swords were of course psychicly enhanced in nature. The War in Heaven (VII-Nightbringer) - According to Eldar myth, in exchange for Khaine's release of Isha and Khurnous, Vaul agreed to provide Khaine with 100 swords 7,8,16 known as the Widow Makers. These may or may not have been shards at this point, which I'll explain later. 2,5 Eldar myth describes the defeat of four major C'tan (Yngir): Aza'gorod the Nightbringer, Tsara'noga the Outsider, Mag'ladroth the Void Dragon, and perhaps Mephet'ran the Deceiver. 5,7,13 One C'tan, Llandu'gor the Flayer, was actually destroyed by the Maynarkh dynasty, resulting in their plauge of madness and the flayer virus. 2,7 The C'tan were shattered into to multiple shards and sealed in multi-dimensional tesseract vaults.

The War in Heaven (Phase VII) - With the Old Ones now defeated, and the Necrons in posession of reality-shattering weapons, the Silent King initiated a galaxy-wide revolt against the star gods. These are the final stages of the greatest war the galaxy has ever seen. This part will cover the final war between the Necrons, the star gods, the Eldar, and the warp gods.
